Why People Don't Respect Democrats!
Why People Don't Respect Democrats!
Rambling Thoughts
Rodolfo Acuña
It is easy with Republicans, you just don't trust them. However, when you were raised in a family like mine, you loved FDR, and prayed for him to win. But you know, you grow up and you realize that Republicans are the party of big business and that Democrats are scavengers sniffing for the the left overs.
This bit with Hugo Chavez is the final straw.
Chavez called George W. Bush el diablo. Well, in the context of history, he could be called worse.
But the gaggle of Democrats, afraid to alienate, are calling press conferences, terrified that Bush's numbers may go up.
Isn't this the same Bush who called out most of the Middle East and Korea by calling them the Axis of evil? Hasn't he vilified almost everyone and his sister?
When I was in Catholic school we studied the scholastic method, the Church still uses it. All knowledge is based on faith and you find truth through reason based on faith.
In this case, we have faith in Bush, he says something and we can forget about effect. No one has the right to respond to his attacks. God has spoken.
Well, I prefer to base my reason on evidence. Studying U.S. Latin America history and reading the other side I can deduce that Euro-American president after Euro-American president supported dictator after dictator in the region.
Indeed, there has never been a dictator Euro-Americans have not fallen in love with.
The United States supported the Somoza's and today the President has promoted the architects of the Death Squads in El Salvador and the massacres in Guatemala to head homeland security.
If I were a religious person, I would blame it on el diablo and say, "The devil made me do it!".
Hugo Chavez is not the first nor the last Latin American tol call a U.S. president el diablo. Scores of Latin American intellects have built on Uruguay's José Enrique Rodo. Ariel has come to symbolize the spirit of idealism and Caliban the United States.
Hugo Chavez's mistake was using the word diablo; it was too easily translated. He should have called Bush Caliban. It would have gone over the heads of most reporters and Democrats.
